Elkem Solar changes name
By using the solar grade silicon of Elkem Solar (now REC Solar Norway) in its manufacturing process, REC Group has further reduced the energy payback time and carbon footprint of REC solar panels, while increasing power. The production of the high-quality solar grade silicon in Norway uses 75% less energy than conventional Siemens production methods. Thanks to this leading integrated value chain, REC Group launched four new products in 2017, with world-record power levels, and won three industry and environment awards.
“This name change completes the integration process of Elkem Solar and REC Group,” comments Steve O’Neil, CEO at REC Group. “Together, we have established a world-leading fully-integrated solar panel manufacturer, driven by our Norwegian heritage. As “REC Solar Norway”, we will continue to work with our customers, partners and local authorities with the same commitment, leveraging REC’s excellent international reputation and continue to deliver industry-leading products with the highest quality.”
