REC Doing Good: O’hana Hope Village Supporting Maui Wildfire Survivors

REC partnered with Family Life Center, Revolusun and Independent Energy to contribute panels to the O’hana Hope Village in Kahului, Maui.

On August 8th, 2023, devastating wildfires raged across the island of Maui reducing 2,700 structures to a pile of ash and displacing thousands. A local non-profit, Family Life Center, received approval from Maui County to stand up temporary mid-term housing in the form of the O’hana Hope Village.

O'hana Hope Village was designed by Hawaii Off-grid leveraging research-based, trauma-informed design to provide families displaced from the Maui wildfires with a home while they await the rebuilding of permanent housing solutions. The 88-home community is currently under construction and will provide housing for approximately 350 individuals.

Included in the scope of the project is solar plus battery for all housing units and community buildings. REC proudly supported the community with 89 REC N-Peak 400W panels, providing 35.6 kW of power to Maui wildfire survivors. The panels were installed in January 2025 with the help of Revolusun and Independent Energy.
